Introduction During higher education studies, students come into contact with different kinds of works they are expected to produce. These are various school and final works. Law no. 131/2002 Coll. on higher education and on the amendment and completion of certain laws in § 51(3) states that "a final work is also part of studies within each study programme." The following sections of this law consider bachelor’s, diploma, rigor and dissertation works as final works.
Writing such works has its own rules, and the writer should follow the corresponding standards regulating both their form and content. However, some of these standards are difficult to obtain, and students face many problems in this area. The aim of this methodological guide is to make it easier for students to work on writing different types of papers.
The creation of this guide is based on personal experience gained from supervising students in school and final works and graduates in various qualification works. Its preparation relied on available standards and handbooks by other authors.
The guide consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with the characteristics of each type of work and formal requirements for their preparation. The second chapter discusses the characteristics of individual parts of final works. The third chapter presents techniques for working with sources and issues of citation. The fourth part presents the possibilities of writing bibliographic references for various types of sources and examples of their practical use.
