to a live discussion at Klub pod lampou in Bratislava organized by the Ambrela platform, CEEV Živica, and the Sokrat Institute in cooperation with the magazine .týždeň and with support from the Slovak Republic through SlovakAid. The discussion will focus on the current topic “Why continue helping Ukraine together even after the European elections.” During it, you will learn more about why it is important to mobilize the public for the EP elections, how experts view humanitarian aid to neighbouring Ukraine and postwar reconstruction of this country, and what role the topic of humanitarian and development aid plays in the programmes of individual Slovak candidates for the EP.
The discussants, who are closely connected to the topic of the European Union, education, and aid to those in need, will answer the moderator’s questions, namely: • Martin Poliačik, candidate for Member of the European Parliament for the movement PS; • Mária Sliacka, expert on humanitarian aid, manager of the OPORA Foundation; • Ivana Nemethová, activist, co-founder of the initiative Znepokojené matky;

The platform of development organizations – Ambrela is an umbrella organization of 30 mostly non-governmental organizations in Slovakia that work on development cooperation, humanitarian aid, global education, and sustainable development at home and/or abroad. It actively represents their shared interests domestically and internationally, and besides advocacy and capacity building, it also focuses on public awareness-raising—raising awareness of solidarity and Official Development Cooperation (ODA SR).
The Center for Environmental and Ethical Education Živica (CEEV Živica) is a civic association that, through its projects and programmes (the Sokrat Institute, Komenský Institute, Green School, etc.), inspires change. It is an active observer organization of Ambrela. Since 2002, it has also been involved in global education. The Živica team teaches people to take responsibility for themselves and the world in which they live, working with teachers, learners, and the wider public.
