The Academy of Education and Research in Social Services organized the second edition of the popular Social Rehabilitation Marathon at the Academy's campus in Holíč on October 4–5, 2018. The event was designed for social rehabilitation instructors, occupational therapists, key workers, caregivers, physiotherapists, and massage therapists. This year, 85 professionals from approximately 40 social service facilities attended.

The aim of the activities was to acquire methodologies and procedures. Participants had the opportunity to obtain 6 certificates for working with methods, techniques, and procedures, and they received sample worksheets, example products, workshop materials, as well as a CD remipower containing a wealth of useful information.

Topics of the Second Marathon Edition

Memory Training and Cognitive Rehabilitation — What is the difference between memory training, cognitive rehabilitation, and psychostimulation? What are their general yet significant principles? How to motivate properly? How to ensure a sense of success? How to choose the right worksheets? The session covered where to find ideas for worksheets and why teamwork is important. Lecturer: Mgr. Zdeněk Gloz

Mgr. Zdeněk Gloz

Occupational Therapy — How to select activities that engage as many social service recipients as possible? How to keep activities as inexpensive as possible? What can be made from waste materials? How and where to obtain them? The workshop taught participants how to make a wreath and demonstrated the pin-pushing method. It also covered how to easily transform our clients' knitting into beautiful creations and how to embellish our products and with what. Lecturer: Marta Iršová

Reminiscence in Social Service Facilities — Do we already have reminiscence rooms and reminiscence corners in our facilities? How to create them and how to work within them? A box of completely ordinary items. During the workshop, the following reminiscence topics were explored: Wedding, Religiosity, Holidays, Traditional Old Foods, Objects, Sounds, and Scents of Bygone Eras. The prepared topics were provided to participants on a CD, ready for immediate implementation. Lecturers: PhDr. Točíková Magdaléna, PhDr. Znášiková Mária

Reminiscence and How to Revive Memories

The Lymphatic System = The Foundation of Health — The aim of the presentation was to highlight the importance of the lymphatic system in our bodies. It covered the process of removing harmful substances from the body through lymph, the role of lymph in preventing oncological diseases, as well as in weight reduction and reducing signs of cellulitis. Participants learned how to care for lymphatic vessels using herbs, "pants," massages, and proper breathing techniques. Instrumental or manual lymphatic drainage techniques can be utilized in every senior care facility, and their significance is undeniable. Lecturer: Bc. Lenka Glembová

Protect Your Back at Work (Using Kinaesthetics Elements in Practice) — The goal of the workshop was to propose methods for working with partially or fully immobile clients in a way that adequately protects our musculoskeletal system from overexertion during work. The session demonstrated tools that significantly ease this activity. Lecturer: Daniel Krutý, Mgr., MSc.

Positioning and Verticalization — The workshop provided an introductory overview of positioning long-term bedridden clients from various perspectives: preventive, corrective, and therapeutic. Proper client positioning helps improve or ease the client's experience. Verticalization is the effort or goal of achieving a change in a client's long-term horizontal body posture for the purpose of prevention or quality-of-life improvement. Lecturer: Mgr. Barbora Bártlová, Ph.D.

Bemer Biofysical Vascular Therapy to Improve Microcirculation

The Bemer care system is currently the most effective physical therapeutic method in complementary medicine. It is a biofysical vascular therapy that gently and non-invasively stimulates limited or impaired microcirculation, thereby creating the necessary conditions for cell regeneration and health preservation. Participants listened to lectures and had the opportunity to try the Bemer device themselves. Improved microcirculation allows oxygen to reach all cells of our organism, enabling the energy production system to function more perfectly. This ensures optimal cell functioning. As a result, wound healing is accelerated, the immune system is strengthened, blocked microvessel segments are released, and the body's self-healing processes are activated. This biofysical vascular therapy helps treat any disease whose origin may be related to blood supply disorders (microcirculation). It improves the function of all organs (brain, heart), athlete regeneration after training, mobility — it strengthens muscles, bones, and joints, boosts immunity and reduces susceptibility to infections, supports regenerative and healing processes, and accelerates wound healing in post-surgical/post-traumatic conditions. _Lecturer: Ing. Vendula Marková, BEMER partner and operator of the Health for All Center in Brno_https://www.zdraviprovsechny.cz

The demonstration was presented by the lecturer together with her colleague Belo Kiss, a therapist and chiropractor who has been working with Bemer therapy for over 5 years.

One of the event's partners was Zepter, which presented products for the prevention and treatment of diseases.
