For they belong to the category of "does not know that they do not know," which František Koukolík calls "stupidity." Stupidity is not being stupid, uneducated, or insufficiently supplied with information; stupidity is the inappropriate use, reception, processing, and application of cognitive patterns. We all have our own, and politicians have risen to a certain category.
If a king's goal is to declare war so he can swipe the state treasury in the ensuing chaos and disappear with it somewhere in Argentina, today's politicians have a more modest goal: to avoid prison (even though they belong there). This applies equally to Trump, Putin, as well as the smaller, dwarf-like ones operating at local levels. It is quite understandable; who, besides the homeless, would want to be there.
Regarding those patterns, we have several degrees, or categories of knowledge: Does not know that they know = asleep, wake them; those are our hidden chambers of knowledge, of ways of solving things buried in the unconscious that need to be brought higher. Knows that they do not know = seeks, searches, let us help them. These are the truth seekers, the Socrates of today, who know how little they know. Knows that they know = the wise, who are as rare as saffron; for me, such rare creatures are František Koukolík or Petr Pithart (not to hide my role models). And finally, does not know that they do not know = people it is better to avoid, because their ways match those of the Jesuits who decided to correct the Bible itself, as the famous Father Koniáš did.
Politicians form a specific group; they believe they are the center of the universe and that everything must go according to them. When things do not work out, they get so angry that the muscle groups in their lumbar region clench so hard that they damage the dynamics of the spine. I am not making fun, because I know how painful it is when a vertebra collapses after a metastasis to the spine. But I can look at it with detachment. And together with 70% of the Czech population declare that such a person is not capable of meeting the demands of the office they are scrambling for. Their role model and guru, in turn, readily tears his Achilles tendon or triceps surae muscle every now and then.
Power is the most amazing aphrodisiac, because whoever has power has everything else that people desire. It is a primitive feeling from a chimpanzee troop, where the "king" takes everything.
