Reaching a reader takes more than brilliant content that grips from its opening words: flawless style and grammar matter just as much. Start reading a text full of grammatical errors and you soon notice you have stopped taking the content in, because the slips are all you can see. Slovak grammar need not be a necessary evil, though. We all make mistakes, so if you care about the quality of your writing, entrust your material to us for language, stylistic or pre-press proofreading. If you have decided to write a publication, you can ask us for editorial revision — of scholarly work or of fiction.
Language proofreading
We correct i/y, commas, long vowels, quotation marks, upper and lower case, numerals, declension and conjugation, minimising the small grammatical slips in your text.
This is the right level for a text you intend to publish in a journal or deliver in public, and for handbooks, product descriptions and manuals.
Stylistic proofreading
We focus on word order, repetition, phrasing, clarity, completeness of information, factual errors and adherence to the layout. The proofreader therefore intervenes more heavily in the text.
Stylistic proofreading suits papers, seminar, bachelor's, master's and doctoral theses, proceedings, promotional material for institutions, associations and companies, press releases, public statements, speeches, catalogues and print advertising.
Editorial revision
Beyond language and stylistic proofreading, this follows the overall sense of the text: it is shortened where needed, or conversely expanded with new data or information. This level requires close collaboration with the author.
Editorial revision is essential when you want the text to read well — for books, course texts, presentations and websites.
Pre-press proofreading
This follows on from stylistic and language proofreading and from editorial revision. What is corrected is the typeset text in its final visual form, marked up directly using proofreading symbols.
Pricing
The price depends on the number of standard pages (NS) and the extent of the work (1 standard page = 1,800 characters including spaces, i.e. 30 lines of 60 strokes).
Texts up to 10 pages are returned the next day, or the same day on request. Longer material is scheduled by agreement.
