Publication Theory and Methods of Social Work II continuously continues the university textbook Theory and Methods of Social Work I (2013), whose third edition was published in September 2015. The authors therefore assume that readers are familiar with the basic terminology, theory and selected methods of social work presented there.
Like every other work, this publication also has its place in life and the historical context in which it was born. We want to state openly to the reader that while this is a new publication in terms of title, it is not new in content. It is rather a reworking of the previous textbook Selected Chapters from Methods of Social Work II (2013, 2014), which is supplemented with several scientific and professional articles by the authors. Another important premise is that the publication is primarily intended for students of master-level social work studies. Since it is being published during the implementation period of the Slovak professional law on social work, several sections in the text reflect this fact. As part of the appendix, there is the new Slovak Code of Ethics of the social worker and social work assistant.
In terms of content, the first chapter deepens knowledge about the relationship between theory, methods and education in social work, further addresses the specifics of research in social work, and offers a reflection on the Slovak professional law. The selection of specific theoretical concepts is closely linked to the presented methods, which are social work with families, group social work and community social work.
