The non-profit organization Centrum Slniečko, n. o. implements a project from July 2014 to June 2015 called 'Use of expressive therapies and quality leisure activities in helping children with CAN syndrome'. The project is implemented at the Crisis Center of Centrum Slniečko, which is a specialized facility for abused, exploited, and neglected children, children in crisis life situations, and victims of domestic violence. The main aim of the project is primarily to contribute to the meaningful use of children's free time for those who need a space to express their emotions and opinions. It focuses on acquiring new skills, developing creativity and imagination, and enabling ventilation of negative emotions without any alienation and judgment through creative activities and music therapy. It also aims to provide educational and exploratory activities that allow children to learn, experience new things, and have fun.
The project will therefore contribute to reducing children’s differences from their peers, creating a new perspective on the world, and adopting positive responses to what is happening around them.
The primary goal of the project is to help children and youth overcome their difficult life situation, ventilate their emotions, prevent social exclusion, and prevent the emergence of social-pathological phenomena. It also aims to offer children the opportunity to forget their suffering, experience fun days full of new experiences and knowledge through educational-exploratory activities outside the crisis center, thereby offering the target group the same opportunities as other children have.
The target group of the project is children and youth who are in a crisis situation and have been placed in a crisis center. They were forced to leave their home because their family background was not suitable for their healthy development and there was often abuse, exploitation, or neglect in their environment by a parent, parents, or close persons.
The crisis center operated by Centrum Slniečko, n. o., provides comprehensive professional support to children with CAN syndrome (the syndrome of an abused, exploited, and neglected child), children in crisis life situations, and victims of domestic violence. As part of this comprehensive professional support, it provides assistance including accommodation, meals, specialized social counseling, educational, special pedagogical, and psychological counseling, as well as professional diagnostics and therapy.
