Abstract

In this paper, an experiment verifies the hypothesis about the use of deer antlers as jaws of Bronze Age metallurgical tongs. We found that deer antlers are suitable as tongs' jaws when handling a glowing metal billet, but their use leaves pronounced, archaeologically traceable marks on the anvil.
