Femininity and Feminism in the Vindictas Anthology. Interpretation of Selected Short Stories

The paper examines the issue of short prose from a less explored perspective: it focuses on the Latin American region and the short-story work of women authors from the second half of the 20th century, who were marginalized by literary history. This perspective is grounded primarily in the interpretation of short stories from the anthology “Vindictas. Cuentistas latinoamericanas“ (2020), but it is also further deepened through the application of a literary-historical approach. This makes it possible to reflect on this type of writing in the developmental context of Spanish-language literature, especially that which represents the official canon (e.g. the boom of Hispanic American literature). The aim of the paper is to characterize the phenomenality of women’s writing, in the form in which it is presented by the anthology, and to attempt to define its poetological specificities, also with regard to the geographical and cultural space that shaped the individual short stories.
