Implementation of Project-Based Learning in English Language Teaching at Lower Secondary School

The aim of the theoretical part is to present the characteristics, principles, strategies, and challenges of implementing project-based learning. The empirical part describes research conducted at a lower secondary school in Nitra, Slovakia. The aim of the research was to determine how PBL contributes to improving the speaking skills of 7th grade students. We used the research method of unstructured observation, which helped us examine the development of students' speaking skills in various phases of the project. As methodological tools, we chose a "contact document" and writing feedback. The contact document was used to gather information about students and their work results in different phases of the project. It helped us examine group discussions, students' presentation skills, ability to express their opinions, and resolve group conflicts with the help of speaking activities.
