National Level of Climate Policy on the Territory of the Slovak Republic

The paper focuses on the current state and starting point of the Slovak Republic (SR) in the area of individual policies whose development and direction are mainly influenced by climate change and reactions to it from the international side and from the European Union. To begin with, the author analyses climate change as a current determinant of political challenges and also examines the historical development of the most important meetings, agreements and implementation measures that have had and still have a direct impact on the attitude and situation in SR. Through secondary analysis of climate impacts, main challenges and partial targets on the territory of SR, the paper in its second chapter will also focus on a brief description of national strategies, plans, programs, and specific projects that have begun to be implemented on its territory. The aim of the paper is also to reveal the strengths and weaknesses that SR has in the fight against climate change and the possibilities the country has at its disposal.
