Methods and Strategies for the Transfer of Slang Expressions in Slovak Dubbing Translation

The ŠVOUČ paper focuses on the complex issue of transferring slang expressions within an audiovisual work. It particularly describes the approaches and strategies used in translating slang expressions. In the study, we describe, analyze, and examine the situations that arise when translating youth slang expressions from the English original into Slovak. In preparing the paper, we also take into account the specific features characteristic of audiovisual translation, because we focus on the transfer of slang expressions within dubbing. The aim of the paper is mainly to provide a clear grouping of all important findings, information, regularities, specifics, procedures, and strategies that should be considered in dubbing translation of slang expressions.
