The Problem of Verbal Assessment of Students in Civic Education, Proposals for Its Forms and Procedures

The topic deals with verbal assessment in civic education at primary schools. The main aim of the work is to propose forms and procedures of verbal assessment in civic education. The presented work points to the legislative basis of verbal assessment and also differentiates between assessment by grades and by words. The goal of verbal assessment is to eliminate students' fear of grades and to approach learning with an emphasis on the qualitative dimension of knowledge. Other goals that the work intends to demonstrate are ways of assessing civic education teachers and their views, but it is also an ambition to provide a critical and sober perspective on assessment from parents, students, and teachers. In its empirical part, the paper presents the reader with options for verbal assessment, an example of a lesson focused on verbal assessment, and also activities for better acceptance and internalization of assessment.
