Technologies help to function more efficiently not only for companies, but also for non-profit organizations, which can better fulfill their mission there. The NGO Awards competition, announced by Microsoft and the Open Society Foundation, is intended for them. Its goal is to highlight the inspiring stories of those who are not afraid of innovation.
One of the winners of last year's NGO Awards competition was the Business Intelligence Club, which supports education and information sharing in all areas of social work and conducts research in sports, school and youth facilities that provide social and health services. "Our members have regular jobs and work in the club on a non-profit basis. Office 365 allowed us a higher form of communication, we don't have to send data to each other, which brings us comfort and security, saves our time and money. OneDrive has become a storage, so we don't need external drives, we don't lose files and we don't have a problem with document conversions," explains Ján Báhidský from the Business Intelligence Club. ZPP Radosť and Mamila o.z. also received an award for innovation.
Even non-profit organizations can function as a modern company. Technological innovations can save them time and energy that they can devote to their mission. Therefore, Microsoft and the Open Society Foundation invite non-profit organizations operating in Slovakia to show off how they use technology to help others. "We are looking for inspiring examples of how technology helps non-profit organizations work more efficiently, communicate better and above all help their clients. We want to appreciate and make their achievements visible and at the same time motivate others to not be afraid to innovate and use technology to the fullest," says Lenka Čábelová, Microsoft's communications manager in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
All Slovak non-profit organizations that use Microsoft products can participate in the competition. "We believe that this year too we will find those who are not afraid of innovation. We are interested in how they use IT, for example, to educate people with disabilities, or to support socially vulnerable groups, for complex team collaboration solutions with volunteers, or for a specialized web application or server solution supporting the activities of their organization," said Ján Orlovský, director of the Open Society Foundation.
You can apply for the Microsoft NGO Awards competition from March 12 to April 20, the results will be announced on May 17, 2018 in Bratislava.
