SPEECH

Dear colleagues, honored guests, dear friends,

The European Commission declared 2012 as the European Year of Active Aging and Intergenerational Solidarity, which follows on from the European Year 2010, dedicated to the fight against poverty and social exclusion, and last year's activities of the European Year supporting volunteering. It is intended to alert public policy makers and other entities that ensuring a dignified, healthy aging and independent life of citizens requires changes: in employment policies, by improving the access of older people to the labor market, innovations in work organization, in health programs, accident prevention, in social services, in lifelong learning, in the improvement of suitable accommodation, in the field of information technology and transport, and in the development of the silver economy.

The increase in the number of elderly people, the extension of human life can be viewed positively, as it is a consequence of better health and social care and quality of life, but due to demographic changes, it is necessary to focus on the many problems it brings.

Aging and the problems of young people are undoubtedly very difficult for the whole society and for all generations, and they are also a matter of intergenerational solidarity and family. In view of these challenges, we have decided to hold an international conference on the topic of Intergenerational Solidarity in the Labor Market as part of the broad cooperation of several organizations, from which selected and scientifically processed contributions are presented to you in this collection.
