On May 19, 2010, the 5th Slovak Health Psychology Conference 2010 with international participation was held in the Congress Hall of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic in Kramáry in Bratislava. The conference was organized by the health psychology section of the SPS at the SAS in cooperation with the health section of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic. The following participated in the preparation of the event: National Institute of Heart and Vascular Diseases in Bratislava, VŠZaSP St. Alžbety in Bratislava, WHO Office in Slovakia, KISH Košice, Department of Psychology FF KU in Ružomberok and Department of Psychology FF TU in Trnava. The program of this year's meeting was partially influenced by the call for a workshop organized by the health promotion section of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic in June 2009 Health education and preventive medicine. Discussion inputs of the participants of the mentioned workshop, including MUDr. E. Kováča and representatives of health insurance companies - doctors by profession who became patients - confirmed the absence of a psychological and human approach of clinical health professionals in relation to patients in specific cases. At the same time, the absence of leading clinical and pedagogical authorities, listed in the list of addressed workshop participants, indicated a paradoxical interest in the issue, if not ignoring prevention and health promotion.

The topic of health promotion or health education and disease prevention is still a topical and very complicated area in which the spheres of interest and action of clinical medicine, public health and other scientific disciplines, including psychology and sociology, intersect. In the context of the development of the last two decades, e.g. the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in the clinical sense was limited to the pharmacological influence of risk factors, to the underestimation of the activities of "non-clinicians" and the resulting paradoxes in prevention and health promotion.

One of the goals of this meeting was to initiate a public, interprofessional discussion on health promotion and disease prevention, to continue it with the participation of competent experts, to improve the awareness of those interested in the issue. At the same time, define the position of psychology, especially health psychology, in these activities. It was and is an effort to continue the trend set by previous meetings of those interested in health psychology, to address current professional psychological as well as cross-disciplinary problems related to health psychology, behavioral health management, health promotion and disease prevention.

The conference program was focused on two professional thematic areas: 1. health promotion and health psychology and 2. health resilience. Both were a quality addition to the main courses of the conference.

It is becoming a tradition that the opening lecture at our meetings is given by prof. I. Štúr. The category of health has its own timeless dimensions, it has its own philosophy, psychology, sociology, but especially logic and ethics, which is being forgotten in today's commercialized era. In the era of globalization and inexorable, hard commercial facts. The author, as a representative of these ideas, presented himself with his own charm and charisma.

In the Health Support block the head of the regional office of the VZ in Košice MUDr. Jana Kollárová emphasized the importance and need of applied health psychology and psychologists in health promotion. Systematic cooperation in this area is the exception rather than the rule. This is a positive challenge and a constructive offer for part of the psychological community.

A high standard of information, factual and chronological precision and timeliness are characteristic of the presentations of doc. Kebz, chairman of the PZ ČMPS section from SZU Prague. He also confirmed this in his contribution Health support - history and present in the world and in the Czech Republic. Despite a certain organizational and methodological advance, the problems associated with the implementation of health promotion activities in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic are common and fail not because of professional competences, but because of the economic and political interests of "leaders" and... irrational intolerance.

Doc. MUDr. L. Bacharová lectured on the chronic dilemma of two different, often incompatible roles in the work of a doctor: as a clinician and as a manager. Extreme demands on both forms of professional identities and insufficient interprofessional competences can lead to errors in both clinical work and human resource work. Both in pre- and post-graduate education, as well as in clinical or organizational practice, there is room for the application of knowledge of psychology, as well as PZ within the framework of increasing the effectiveness of activities.

Discussion on the presentation of Dr. Brukkerova et al. Health education and health promotion indicated that more space should be devoted to the topic to eliminate not only semantic and linguistic disproportions and to set priorities in investing in the education of health professionals, especially at SZU, but also in the wider population.

When assessing the risky behavior of health workers and health promotion, it is not enough to state known things about the riskiness of the environment in which health workers move. PZ should offer concrete measures to mitigate the impact of professional risk on the health of health workers and thereby improve the quality of the diagnostic and therapeutic process, summed up Dr. Selko.

MUDr. Zorka Gerová from the RÚVZ health counseling center in Bratislava reported on the Cardiovascular Health Support Project in the environment of primary schools in the Bratislava - Petržalka district. The findings were shocking; in addition to the unsatisfactory state of cardiovascular risk factors in children, the issue of the riskiness of the teaching profession and the need to address this well-known and yet delicate topic also from the point of view of psychology and health promotion came to the fore.

An interesting presentation by the collective Madarásová-Gecková, Kolarčík and spol. Research on social determinants of health in a group of Roma youth. Despite the extensive knowledge of some of the discussants, the issue of the health of this minority, as well as many other problems related to it, is not being solved.

Lecture Mgr. P. Šťastného, J. Potúčková and spol. from OZ Stop smoking: Prevention of addictions and health promotion attracted attention with its high erudition in the issue, at the same time the author drew attention to the importance of OZ in the promotion and prevention of health, especially with regard to the fight against tolerated addictions. On the one hand, admirable commitment, high work pace, on the other hand, misunderstanding of competent people and underappreciation of work naturally lead to burnout and loss of enthusiasm. In Slovakia, there is not yet a favorable environment for activities of a similar kind.

To block 2. Resilience: Although the publication Doc. Ivy Šolcová from Prague The development of resilience in childhood and adulthood is thin, it contains a quantity of high-quality factual data. It is precisely, comprehensibly and consistently compiled. It is a pity that due to the "prevention of time stress" by the moderators of the block during the presentation of this publication, the presence of the author was not used for a richer discussion on this interesting topic.

Doc. dr. G.Bianchi et al. offered an interesting and discussion-provoking topic Resilience and the power of women. Although the authors represent a workplace of basic research, the goal was highly and practically focused. I personally appreciate the efforts of the authors, despite the fact that even within the same field and common goal, we have different terminology. dr. Viera Diešková dealt with the topic of Resilience and its support from a generational point of view, emphasizing the importance of early developmental stages in the formation of resilience. From other lectures presented: Dr. I. Schusterová from the Department of Psychology at TU thought about compassion satisfaction in crisis workers as protection against burnout. The topic of burnout among students of helping professions, the concept of "sense of coherence" and self-esteem, which are part of the grant study, were addressed by PhDr. Z. Škodová and spol. from Martin. Doc. B. Vašina from the University of Ostrava presented his precise statistical analysis of risk and protective variables in teachers in the work Some factors of psychological workload and hardines. dr. M. Vavricová, in her lecture Self-control as a factor in coping with stress, focused on the importance of self-regulatory mechanisms of personality in relation to health.

In part 3. Varia, contributions were made: Quality of distribution of free time and satisfaction with life doc. Stempelová and Topoľská, Therapeutic potential of leisure activities in connection with coping in adolescents by Schusterová and Luptáková from Trnava. The effort to mutually enrich and diversify social work through the prism of health psychology was realized in the contributions of Mgr. E. Rumančíková: Tolerance of alcoholism in women and the contribution of Mgr. T. Braun: Depression and psychohygiene. At the end of the conference Mgr. L. Harinek in his precise and personal experience-enriched contribution Anxiety, coping, communication about illness and quality of life in pediatric oncology confirmed that "the apple does not fall far from the tree" and continues in the footsteps of his grandmother - doc. Milady Harinekova. The complete texts of the presented and some requested papers will be published in the journal Psychology of Health 2010. A total of over 55 people interested in health psychology took part in the conference, which is not a small number considering the beginning of the holidays and the varied offer of other, perhaps more socially attractive events. Student interest in the conference is growing. The interest of "clinical" workers reflects the current situation in the psychological community in Slovakia.

Perhaps it will not be an uncritical statement if I state the organizer's opinion that the conference met its demanding goal. My experience of participating in the PZ ČMPS conference in Vernířovice, which took place after the Bratislava conference, gives me the right to this statement. We are not far behind our colleagues from the Czech Republic in terms of the quality of the papers presented and the number of participants.

Despite the "unlucrative" nature of this event, most of the rockers expressed an interest in meeting again.

The goal of the conference is to continue the trend set by previous meetings of those interested in health psychology and to address current, professional psychological as well as cross-disciplinary problems related to health psychology, behavioral health management, health promotion and disease prevention.
