The presented collection is based on the papers presented at the international scientific conference held in Bratislava on the 21st-22nd. September 2012, on the occasion of the end of the "Let's become a bilingual family" project.

PREFACE

The presented collection is based on the papers presented at the international scientific conference held in Bratislava on the 21st-22nd. September 2012, on the occasion of the end of the "Let's become a bilingual family" project.

Individual contributors offer theoretical knowledge of modern humanistic approaches to teaching foreign languages ​​to children at a younger age, describe procedures for working with children, bring closer research and methods for natural language acquisition in early and younger school age, "present the application of theoretical knowledge in practice and introduce readers to interesting concrete procedures" (from Dr. Kostelníková's review).

A separate section is devoted to works in the field of bilingualism. The fact that many contributions reflect the authors' own experiences in bilingual education of children is particularly valuable.

We consider the connection between the worlds of science, school and family to be a positive aspect of our conference, which is also highly appreciated by the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic, Dušan Čaplovič: "For me, it is very valuable that you count on the participation of parents as part of the conference, cooperation with whom is also essential in the field of foreign language education".

We believe that the contributions published in the collection will not only stimulate thought and new scientific research work, but that they will serve teachers and parents as a practical guide for the innovation of teaching foreign languages ​​in the school and family environment.
