Proceedings of the fourth annual scientific international conference Sexualities IV – Sexuality IV, which was held on 29.-30.9.2010 at the Faculty of Education, Comenius University in Bratislava. Focus of scientific conferences
The aim of scientific conferences is to thematize human sexuality in connection with broader social issues by presenting knowledge from empirical and critical-analytical research of various scientific disciplines, including sociology, psychology, anthropology, history, biology, medicine, law, pedagogy, ethics, philosophy, cultural studies, media and communication studies, etc., as well as to support scientific discourse on current issues of sexuality and current research on sexuality and to stimulate scientific discussions about approaches, perspectives and barriers in the study of sexuality in its most diverse forms. The goal of the conferences is also to pay attention to sexuality in marginalized and taboo contexts such as sex business, sex and drugs, alternative sexual subcultures, etc.
Some problem circuits:
- research on sexualities in socio-cultural, psychological, legal, pedagogical and many other contexts,
- different conceptions of sexuality as starting points for sexual research, discourses on sexualities,
- research on sexualities and power,
- the clash of biology and culture in research contexts,
- gender and research strategies for exploring sexualities,
- education and work in the field of sexuality in helping professions,
- queer, minority sexualities in the light of research,
- youth and sexual aggression and violence among young people,
- mediatization of sexuality and sexualization of the media
- other.
