The concept of educational social work and the concept of educational social counseling as innovative components of the preventive social work system—in science, study field, and social help—is the result of the author’s long-term theoretical, research, pedagogical, and practical work.

In the monograph, a holistic approach is established in understanding the person, the social environment, and their mutual dynamic relationship; a systems approach in understanding human development as an individual system that is part of a broader and more complex system of the social and educational environment; and a humanistic approach in understanding the content and meaning of education as prevention and social help, guiding people toward self-help and the development of individual potential. Educational social work is defined from the perspective of an educational paradigm in social work. The monograph contains the drafts of the author’s theoretical concepts:

  • Educational social work as specialized preventive social work.
  • Educational social counseling for adults as specialized social counseling.
  • Individual potential (in the context of educational social work).
  • Psychological adulthood—maturity (in the context of educational social work).

The monograph aims to present an innovative concept and support the establishment of educational social work, which can be understood as preventive specialized social work and as preventive developmental social work.

The concept of educational social work and, within it, educational social counseling is presented as a scientifically and professionally justified formulation of specialized social help, with a vision of creating an integrated social help strategy for social work clients in the future.
