Overview of selected theoretical foundations used in social work with offenders

The approach to offenders and their subsequent treatment should be carried out on the basis of verified research findings, thereby maximizing the functioning of the individual selected work methods and interventions. In the presented paper, we will present at the theoretical level the Desistance Paradigm, the Paradigm of Risk and Protective Factors, the Risk, Needs, and Responsivity Paradigm, the Concept of Adverse Childhood Experiences, and the Criminal Career Paradigm, whose knowledge we use when working with offenders.
