In Slovakia, a member state of the European Union, one of the biggest social problems is the integration of the substantially large Roma ethnic minority with the local population. Roma have a wonderful temperament and spark. But without proper guidance of their lives and emotions, disagreements arise between themselves and the local residents. Many humanitarian organizations are making huge efforts in this area, trying to reduce prejudices and educate the younger generation on both sides, hoping for their coexistence and working side by side.
Roma community centers under the auspices of the Košice Archdiocese Charity strive for a comprehensive solution to the problem of the full application of Roma in life and society, through regularly recurring activities and one-off activities.
The Roma Community Center in Lipany develops several activities for the development of the local Roma community. On the basis of the education of the Roma community, it strives for overall improvements in the quality of its life, social situation and overall social status. The workers take care of both children and adults through various handicraft courses, but also teach them the skills of good management and household management. Various events, discos, clubs are organized for children, simply so that they can make a cultural living and at the same time be guided to a correct understanding of life values.
The Roma community center in Stropkovo was created based on the needs of fellow Roma citizens, their poor social and spiritual situation, which was first noticed by the religious sister Bernadeta and the local priest at the time, who were responsible for the establishment of the center. This assistance is also aimed at active and high-quality spending of free time of Roma children, developing their talent and leading adults to a responsible attitude towards themselves, their family and others.

RKC employees place great emphasis on education, they encourage parents to support children in education, as it is an important way to improve the conditions of their future life.
The aim of the whole activity of the RKC is to try to improve the life of the Roma community, as well as to remove prejudices, misunderstandings and the bad image of the majority about this minority, and to try to improve communication between these two groups.
