University of Health and Social Work in Bratislava Detached workplace Bl. Method Dominik Trčka in Michalovce organized IV. The international scientific conference on the topic "Ways of connecting the system of social services and health care at the level of community and residential services of a regional nature", which took place on November 9-10, 2017 in the premises of the Detached workplace in Michalovce.

PREFACE

The contributions listed in the collection were presented at IV. International scientific conference in Michalovce on November 9-10, 2017. The topic of the conference was "Ways of connecting the system of social services and health care at the level of community and residential services of a regional nature". Our inspiration for this topic was two documents: 1. Implementation strategy - system of integrated health care provision: Modernizing the health infrastructure and improving the availability of quality services in primary and acute inpatient health care. 2. National priorities for the development of social services for the years 2015–2020.

Individual speakers and contributors to the proceedings modified the theme of the conference from the following areas of nursing, social work, psychology and spirituality:

  • medical preventive programs within integrated health care centers,
  • health literacy in a multidisciplinary context,
  • principles of long-term care,
  • design of care for a patient with a chronic disease,
  • advanced practice in the context of multidisciplinary cooperation,
  • cooperation of a nurse and a social worker with the family of an oncology patient,
  • oncologically ill clients and the impact of spirituality on their lives,
  • reporting negative news to patients with oncological disease,
  • social services in the context of quality,
  • saturation of spiritual needs in the context of nursing and social services,
  • position of psychologist in community care,
  • diseases and healing in the Bible.

Individual contributions reflected the theme of the conference from different points of view and contributed to clarify the issue in the scientific field but also in professional practice.
