Taking care of the health of the population is one of the basic priorities of every state. However, this long-term process cannot be done without professionals from the health and social work department. The motivation of the collective of authors to write the Supplement of selected chapters of the scientific fields of social work and nursing are scientifically unverified problems of practice related to health support, prevention of chronic diseases, prevention of such deficits in the needs of persons that limit the performance of the profession. A wide range of environmental factors determines the state of health and performance of a person in different ways, and therefore special attention should be paid to education, methods of health promotion by nursing and social workers. We characterize the supplement as a comprehensible text of the scientific works of the collective of authors. The authors are recognized academic officials of Slovak universities and colleges and experts from practice. The publication is structured into twelve chapters.

The aim of the scientific publication is to make available to readers the results of empirical studies in the field of health promotion in individual age categories of the population, specific conditions for the provision of culturally different care, preparation for the performance of the profession and conditions for the performance of the profession of nurses responsible for general health care in the European context. The team of authors also pays special attention to the issue of building a quality management system in health and social care institutions. The issue of environmental factors, determinants of health in a selected nursing community, supervision methodology as a tool for health promotion in the profession of social worker and nurse is described. The target group for which the monograph is intended has a multidisciplinary character. The presented Supplement of selected chapters of the scientific fields of social work and nursing is intended for a wide professional and scientific public, university teachers, academic officials, social and health workers, i.e. to all those who wish to have new and deeper knowledge of the mentioned fields.
