Collection of residential social work in Slovakia and selected EU countries (PDF)

INTRODUCTION

When we talk about residential social work, we mean the entire area of care, which is provided in the form of a stay, i.e. j. in residential (institutional) facilities.

The aim of the collection is to provide an insight into the various types of social services that are provided in the environment of residential facilities. Individual contributions devote their attention to the care of children, seniors, mentally disabled and oncological patients, who are provided with care in institutional facilities.

Currently, a process of deinstitutionalization is underway in Slovakia, as well as in other EU countries. The National Action Plan for the transition from institutional to community care in the system of social services for the years 2012-2015 has been created. The authors of the contributions also touch on this area.

In their chapters, the authors analyze the current state of residential care (RS) in Slovakia, the state of RS in selected EU countries and the development of RS in Slovakia over the last 5 years. The benefit is insights into residential care for different target groups.

We realize that the authors have only touched on such a broad topic. At the same time, we believe that the outputs contained in this collection will be beneficial for further research in the area of ​​residential social work.
