We live in a rapidly changing society where, in addition to technological progress, we are dealing with problems related to the changing demographic profile of the population. The life expectancy of the population is increasing, the number of elderly people is increasing, but at the same time the number of chronic diseases, frail seniors and lonely elderly people is also increasing. This development requires a new perspective and the development of interdisciplinary cooperation from health and social workers. Because caring for the elderly is not only about administering medicine or applications of other treatment methods. It is a complex process that includes physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of a person. No profession can fulfill these needs alone.

This is where the interdisciplinary team comes into play - nurse, doctor, physiotherapist, psychologist, social worker, speech therapist, occupational therapist, but also the senior's family. Everyone brings their own unique perspective, experience and skills. Together, they create a network that helps seniors maintain their autonomy, dignity and quality of life.

An interdisciplinary approach is not just a theory – it is a practice based on communication, respect and mutual understanding. When a nurse knows that a physiotherapist needs to get a senior moving after a procedure, or when a social worker knows that psychological support is just as important as rehabilitation, then care becomes truly complex.

Our goal should not only be to "treat", but to collaborate - to create an environment in which the senior is not just a patient, but a partner in the care process.

The main purpose of the conference was also to bring together the most important professions in the care of seniors, as well as highlight current problems in clinical practice, open space for discussion and exchange of information. The result were lectures, a brief summary of which is offered in the collection of abstracts. Various areas of care for seniors/geriatric patients as well as therapy and diagnosis of diseases and syndromes are presented here.

We believe that the publication will serve as a source of information or as a topic for solving the problems that we presented in it.
